What is this website?
www.mapfiend.net is a website where you can view, upload and download maps for Sony's Everquest MMORPG. This is also a site where I experiment with graphics programming for the web. New features may come and go, based on their usefulness.
How do I download a map?
Click on the "Map List" link. You will be presented with a list of all the zones, that is sortable by zone name, short name, continent, update date, and number of downloads. Click on an entry in this list, and you will be taken to:
A. The view page if only one map exists for this zone.
B. The zone list page, if there are multiple maps available for this zone.
If you end up at the zone list page, just click the map you want to view. Once you are at the view page, there are several options at the top of the page. Click the map you want in order to download it.
How do I upload a map?
Easy, simply click on the "Upload a Map" link, then browse to the map file itself and hit submit. In most cases, if the filename of your map follows either the SOE or SEQ standard naming conventions, the upload script will determine which format it is in, which zone it is for, which layer (If applicable) and will convert it to the other map format automatically. If it cannot determine the zone, it will take you back and ask you to select a zone from the dropdown list. Do not upload binary files, like jpg or png files, as the system will reject them and scold you :)

make sure you are using the latest version of winzip and unzip the file to your Everquest maps folder. This is usually located here: c:\program files\sony\everquest\maps
